A number of amendments to the funding legislation were also passed.
The House of Representatives narrowly passed the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The $886 billion measure includes a pay raise for service members and additional support for Ukraine.
The House passed amendments to the defense bill that would eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusivity (DEI) programs and personnel from the Pentagon, prohibit the Defense Department from paying or reimbursing expenses related to abortion procedures, block health care programs for military personnel that would cover transgender hormone treatments or surgeries, and require military school libraries to refrain from having or purchasing pornographic or gender ideological books.
The Senate will have its own version of the NDAA, and a final bill will need compromise and a veto-proof majority.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker McCarthy to seek God’s direction as he leads the House of Representatives.
- For Majority Leader Schumer to turn to the Lord for guidance as he heads the Senate.
- For Secretary Austin and Pentagon officials to adhere to the guidance placed upon the Defense Department by Congress.
